One IT Director finds Fibre Channel SAN exceedingly difficult, time-consuming, and expensive

Boggs began his search for the right SAN solution with Fibre Channel options from EMC and Hewlett Packard company, but found them to be exceedingly difficult, time-consuming, and expensive to implement, as well as complicated to learn. Says Boggs, "A Fibre Channel SAN is hard every way you look at it, and you have to dedicate serious resources to it for weeks, just to get going."

When EqualLogic was recommended to him, Boggs was skeptical. But once he tested the PS Series array, he realized it was exceptional. Recalls Boggs, "We plugged it in in the morning, it was up and running and fully configured by noon, and at lunch we were talking about how great it was. By comparison, I know of a large West Virginia agency that bought an EMC solution and 18 months and $800,000 later, it's tough as nails for them to do what we can do in 10 minutes."
